Job Title: Electrical Engineering Co-op
Reports To: Owner
Employment Status: Full-time during designated Co-op semesters

Phase 1 Engineering, located in beautiful Holland, Michigan, is a focused group of dedicated electronics engineers. Ranging from bare metal to the cloud, our electronics expertise turns concepts into reality. As consultants we experience a fascinating and diverse variety of projects making each day unique. Examples include power supplies, sensors, signal processing, detectors, antennas, radio propagation, wireless systems and circuits, IoS and Android applications, cloud-based services, Bluetooth, and Zigbee. Our team designs typically 10 to 20 new circuit boards per year including wireless links, embedded antennas, microprocessors, DSP and more. Markets include consumer products, automotive, military, industrial, and medical.
Responsibilities:
- Build and evaluate prototypes
- Assist with design and CAD work including circuit and code design
- Manage the lab space
- Work alongside Phase 1 Engineering engineers, technicians, and lab assistants to complete work
- Understand customer products and requirements in order to design and test hardware, firmware and software.
- Write and evaluate product requirements as needed
- Participate in sales calls, visits, and presentations
Requirements:
• The ability to work in a self-directed, fast paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Desire to continuously learn new technical concepts and skills.
• Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering
The Phase 1 Experience:
An internship with us provides exposure to many of the following areas.
• Circuit Design – Analog & power, sensors & interface circuits, AC, switching power circuitry
• Firmware and software – C, C++, Java, and Python for Microchip, Nordic Semi, ST Micro, Android, iOS, etc.
• Specialties – RF circuit design, antenna design, RF protocols (WiFi, BLE, Zigbee, etc.), motor controls, signal processing including Matlab experience
